Step 1: Consultation
Your novel is important to you, and I want to respect and honor the work you've done to get it to this point. The first step in that process is checking that we can be on the same page. Once we start talking, I'll ask you to send me the first two chapters of your novel. I'll edit them, send them back, and then set up a chat (face-to-face or we can use a messaging service) to discuss the novel, my edits, and determine whether we'll work well together. If we agree, we'll start signing the deal and getting into the details of how we move forward.

Step 2: Explore Our Services
While I complete my complimentary edits, take some time to explore what services we offer. I'll also discuss these with you during our chat. Firebird Editing offers three tiers of edits to meet your novel's needs wherever it is; I'll suggest where I think you should start, but in the end, you decide what edits you want for your story!
Option 1: Developmental Edits

Every novel needs a hype-person who will also tell you when your plot, characters, or other major elements (think really big picture) aren't working the way you want them to. Let me be that person. I'll go through your novel with a critical eye and offer suggestions based on my editing expertise and my life-long love of reading. Our goal with these edits is to set a solid foundation for your novel to grow on.

Option 2: Line Edits

At this stage, I'll go through your novel line by line and examine your language usage. I'll leaves notes about if a "trending" phrase you use doesn't fit your time period, explore your grammar and syntax, and let you know where you can use different phrases that appear a little too often. We'll clean up fragments that got left behind and ensure your novel is almost ready for pub day!

Option 3: Proofreading

We'll put those final touches on that make your novel the best it can be. Line by line and word by word, we'll make sure as little gets missed as possible. This process will smooth out any final typos or inaccuracies that slipped through the cracks and leave your novel ready for its world premiere!
